Kids Say the Darnedest Things

27 Mar 2008

I was over at a friend’s house for dinner. His three-year-old son, Andy (not his real name), was keeping me entertained while his wife prepared dinner.

Me: Andy, how many toes do you have?

And as I wiggled each toe in turn, Andy counted to ten. I turned to my friend, Rick (not his real name).

Me: Wow, Rick, he can count to ten. That’s impressive for a three-year-old.

Rick (a little smug): Actually, he can count to twenty. (He looked down at Andy.) Andy, can you count to twenty for Miss Ann?

Andy (slanted an arch look up at his father): Can you?

Priceless.
